Jon's Journey Episode 8: Why I Would Never Call This Plumber Again

Hi there. This is John’s journey, The . Now John’s pilgrimage, if you recall is my experiences as a purchaser of crafts and picturing if we can take any lessons from that to assist you spawn your occupations better. And of course, in my persona as a business coach for business business owners So recently we had called to hire a . It was a few small jobs: sounds are dripping, lavatory is dripping during the night, the hot water, They’re really cruel hot actually, needing one of those valves that compiles it not so sizzling So simple stuff. I announced my friend Patrick. I know he works as a . He made a recommendation. We called the guy, did a little bit of jiggery-pokery, managing, agreeing dates and occasions for him “re coming” and have a look. He came over, had a lovely chat, walked around the house, and “ve been given” a oral $350, that kind of number. We booked in a duration and then fiddled about with the time again. I didn’t really knowledge that. It’s a small chore. I said it wasn’t urgent. I cultivate from dwelling so I’m always here. So I didn’t really care that it get changed. The daylight comes. Somebody else comes. Not the person I’ve met, but another person. This would be alright but he didn’t say. It didn’t matter because he was also nice. We chitchatted, he said, I hear you need some sounds and a toilet drips and I told him mostly, telling him what the creation I missed doing again even though Ive asked it once. That was a bit strange. Anyway, he does the work and off he goes. Michelle comes home, my partner and says, He’s forgotten the sound in the laundry. Its still dripping. I had to call up the first chap, left him a theme. He cast me a verse. The second chap came again and did the tap that he forgotten. Job done. I got a text saying, What’s your email address? I got an email for the statement and I’ve had no from the boss.No apology that says, We forgot the job. No reassurance that I’m not getting a charge with an extra. Nothing. So I get my statute. It’s higher than what I was paraphrased, $450 not $300. Not enough to upset me , not clear on the invoice whether I’ve paid for their f ** kup and I’m not inconvenienced enough to follow it up. Michelles a little riled. She’s told my best friend Patrick. So what’s the lesson? The exercise is Jon can’t be vexed. He doesn’t like ringing beings up and saying You “re making a mistake”. I don’t care enough to want to do that. But I probably won’t call him next time I crave a activity done, despite the fact that he was nice. Because he was a bit disorganized. He didn’t use structures. He didn’t communicate. And I speculate These are the important tasks that I want to say to you. You need in your business that can avoid this stuff happening. He should have written down what I wanted to do. He should have given me a written quote. It doesn’t give longer and longer. His guy should have turned up with a written work order or errand poster, or on personal computers, iPad, or on phone calls, or whatever. Then I should have gotten my mention, my expenditure, my invoice that was based on the excerpt knowing the use had been done because he clicked everything there is off. It should have gone smoothly with some punish like that, and it didn’t. So the consequences aren’t dire, but I probably won’t call him again and I probably won’t cite him to my friends because it was a bit rubbish. So penalize being the first assignment and being the second. Given that he made a mistake, wasn’t punishment, or was a bit slack and didn’t do what he should have done, He probably should have called me and said, Sorry about that Jon and reassured me that I wasn’t extra or whatever. And he didn’t do that either because he’s a bit chicken and again not penalty, he didn’t have a system. So get your in place. This is my entreaty to you as a business coach. Write organisations, use the technology use checklists, be trained in your dealings with beings. Don’t seek, “How about $300 ” then send a bill for $450. Have a plan and do not allow your people to forget to do work. Don’t frame it on me to make sure you don’t forget to do work. We wrote it down once and we shouldnt have written it down further. I shouldn’t have to go through it twice with you and take persons responsible for uttering sure you don’t forgotten to do the study that I’ve asked you to do and I’m paying to do. That’s not fair. It’s not good customer services. Put structures in your business. Be punishment. Be penalized around this trash around your interactions with customers.Write things down and use the technology. And of course, this is something that I do. I’m a business coach. I help people implement plans so they’re originating, scaling and manufacturing more money. If its impaired by things like this, going wrong, frankly you don’t need to. See you ..
