Navien NFC-175 Error 060-01 Abnormal Dual Venturi - How To Diagnose And Replace Step By Step
good morning it's me Mikey Pipes. Thanks for
tuning in another great informative educational and hopefully entertaining video.
Hopefully i can make you guys smile. Anyway it was a matter of time ladies and
gentlemen a matter of time a matter of time before we go on our first well actually technically
second Navien fire tube combi repair. Yep! Oh that's right ladies and gentlemen the apple does not fall fall far
from the tree if it's a Navien well you're destined and determined to
have problems. Typical wall hunk junk so a little bit of background information
this NFC i think it's a 175 replaced a ch 210 or 240 about two years ago as a warranty
replacement we ripped off ripped off the entire system off the wall relocated the
system and piped in everything brand new let's go see what's going on ladies and
gentlemen let's go see what's going on wow love what we did with the
place and the garage is gone you haven't been here since then no oh wow
wow and there's problems with the navy yeah but it wasn't working and now
it's like working on truthful all right let's go see well the
rentals really came out nice yeah all right that's right because you you had
um someone else had someone else come through yeah they turned out nice i bought them from
someone else that never installed them so the only thing i would have done different
yeah it's exactly the same but just do every single one like like six or seven you
know so that they're bigger because like these guys are a little skinnier but longer
yeah i might like just swap out for like it's nice though wow this place came uh yeah drop this
bathroom here oh yeah put a little pump in here when did the problem start um so i was
i was in puerto rico for the winter um this nice this new code that's warm there
yeah it was super nice now i'm like freezing the flame lost thing has been since we installed
it but it's always been something where like a couple times i'm here and it's like maybe there's
i think it might be the vent outside the way it's positioned i don't think so okay because it goes
out and i'd have to like text someone to like come over and like just unplug it and plug it back in
with the flight what's the error flame loss flame loss i don't know the error it just always says
like flame loss error history so we're getting 0 60 that's the new one i think right which
has occurred probably the last like and then 12 months yeah 0 60 and 12.

All right let's give
them a call all right so let's just review here fresh air and with martian
air questionnaire goes out three zones one is radiant
as you can see navi clean tits filter on the incoming domestic water all right let's go see the venting all right they're gonna [ __ ] complain that i don't
have 12 inches of vertical separation tech support technician on
site calling for an nfc 175. all right so i got navy on the
phone i kind of like had to like basically take over the conversation is like well
if the error is not occurring right now you know not much we can do i'm like yo bro he's got this
error message like 10 times over the past weekend it's cause it's not doing it now like let's fix
this problem while i'm here it's okay then oh you need to replace the dual venturi i'm like
okay so send me one and he didn't even bother checking that it was a warranty exchange he
goes okay no problem game is my address boom done easy peasy i don't stock the nf's and the
fire tube combi parts the fire two parts at all because they didn't make a part kit
for it yet when i was uh still in nss but very easy you know i made sure the
connection inside was secure which it was and um that was it called them up they said
okay well overnight you have a new inventory so we'll be back on wednesday today
is monday to put it in all right thanks for watching stay tuned for
part two which is coming up right now i'm back all right let's replace the dual inventory
i also have uh a 45 we're gonna put on the exhaust and we'll see if that has any
a change on the uh the light switcher there you go okay has it errored
out since i was here the other day actually not it's that funny thing
right when like you finally start to okay you want to see that it doesn't
happen i hear you all right all right cool all right let's pop that out you got
it okay here's our nfc 175 let's take our clips out one two get the ones
on top and we'll swap out this dual insert all right let's
start with killing power okay our dual venturi let's open up that box i
have a little knife the gerber knife got that from the youtube subscriber nice and we have a
lot of nice youtube subscribers they send gifts love letters thank you cards gifts one guy even
sent me some silver and gold bullion coins i mean that's coins so there's a dual venturi and that
is where is that thing where could this thing be i think it's that is that that it or is it hmm oh no
it's this there it is it's that piece right there okay let's turn off the gas what the [ __ ] some pump all right so ladies and gentlemen
how to replace a dual venturi on an avian fire tube combi nfc 175's 200's are the
same all right there it is built in 2019 look how how much precision on the installation
is here right look at that even i even zip tied the wiring for the zones isn't that so nice and
pretty that's nice that's that's tits by the way that really is really nice i guess i could have
done a little bit cleaner job with the low voltage zone three you know i didn't
this was i think mike did this but whatever okay the gas is off and we
have to let's remove these four screws all right let's disconnect the wire which says
venturi on it okay now we have this horn looking thing which is attached to there and we have one
two three four four screws holding the venturi to the blower all right we're gonna remove those
four screws two on top two in the bottom holding the blower to the top of the heat exchanger
and then we'll pull out the entire assembly let's oh more all right we got okay let's put that on the floor and let's take off the inventory so we're
going to keep the orientation the same so we don't get anything confused here right
let's take off that screw and that screw okay now there's a couple things we're gonna have to do here but let's start by
taking out those four screws separating the venturi from the blower motor okay let's take the new venturi now that one's has a gasket so let's take that
red gasket and put it on there that little groove all right make sure it sits
in there nice good now let's put the new venturi back onto there is that the same way it was on
before yes okay good let's put the screws back in now that they're all hand tight let's give
them make some make sure they're nice and snug okay now here's that pro side profile
and take a look at that one grab that one no that all right
now what do you see different okay what else you see different look at this and look at that
what do you see different no no no no um it was upside down
okay what do you see different now this plate yes so that's the plate
i believe is for different fuels and that should be the one for natural gas
and for propane lp will be a different one so let's take that out and remember the exact
orientation it was in i could tell you this though it looks different already though just
the whole thing yeah it does look different yeah i mean this is blank and this has numbers
in it yeah let's see take the other screw out it could be just my imagination or depth perceptions playing a game on me all
right let's take that rubber gasket out all right let's take that little piece
out and put that back in the way it was okay let's put those screws back
in and then put the gasket back in so nice and tight okay let's put the gasket back in okay i'm surprised they didn't give us new gaskets
but this is what they gave us all right all right so here's the below inventory assembly now we have
that piece to go back on here two screws hold this air intake assembly loopy kind of reminds me of a
pigtail on the steam boiler obviously much bigger and as you guys could see we're using
the long navy and phillips screwdriver that they were so nice to give me many years ago
as part of their promotional package kind of like their shirts and their hats all right good old
navy and screwdriver see that's an avian that says navian as well so does that but they want to
sue me in arbitration for using their trademark and defaming their character here we have
it a little over two-year-old nfc 175 that already are replacing a pardon the dual
venturi what a shame they just don't make things like they used to actually that's just south
korea america that's just navy and by the way all right that's nice and secure okay all right
i'm holding this obviously it's like a easier if it's a two-person job i'm holding the blower
against the top of the heat exchanger i already put back on oh did it fall off it did it's fine we
put it back on let's get a couple screws in there and then hook up the gas to the
inventory all right those four screws from the blower to the top of
the heat exchanger are secure now we're hooking up the four screws from top
of the gas valve to the side of the venturi and make sure that they're going properly
and we don't cross thread anything i've already hooked up the power to the blower right
there and the only thing left to do is venturi and then the little breather tube on the
bottom of this air inlet thingamajiggy so great okay venturi power is
connected blowers connected breather i guess line yeah that goes into a pressure switch
pressure tubing pressure switch is connected everything is good nice solid and tight the
only thing left to do now is plug it back in looks like we have space heating three is calling but i don't have anything illuminated here nothing's lit up this is zone three all right oh there's a little delay look at that okay very nice we need to turn the gas back on that would help right because it
looks like we're going to error out on there we go we have ignition
flame icon has appeared zone three domestic hot water is off we have 15.5
psi pressure system and right now 136 degrees i'm just going to show you guys one
quick thing that i like to do with especially condensing systems a condensing
system thrives on lower set point temperature is this thing manufactured to provide
spacing at 180 degrees absolutely will it condense at 100 degrees absolutely not
all right so one of the things i like to do on all of the condensing systems we install is
that i set my space heating temperature right to 165 degrees the lower this number and that's if
we need it 180 degrees so like right here as you can tell you know we have the rental baseboards
very nice beautiful baseboards there right but they're designed for maximum output at 180
degrees of spacing temperature we can sacrifice temperature and btus but also make the machine
thrive is it going to condense at 165 degrees absolutely is it going to condense as much as it
would if it was set for 140 degrees absolutely not my own navian nfb 200 i personally set for 145
degrees now granted most of the heat in my home is in floor hydronic radiance i do have a couple
zones of convectors and fintu baseboard which would like to see 180 degrees but on the average
winter day the boiler is condensing generally two to three gallons of condensate per day and it
thrives and the more you make a machine like this thrive the intention is to last longer would
that have would a lower temperature prevented this from not dying no because as you saw in the
earlier part of this video the space heating was set for 123 degrees and he was actually a
little bit cold in his house this winter but now it's at 160 and we have
that running let's go put on the 45 on outside well we don't got any vertical
separation but like we got about six feet of horizontal but navy would still deny a
warranty if they saw this so let's take out damn here try to get this thing off oh we got
it see we got it so there's our little 45 the homeowner was saying that he feels that
on very strong wind days the wind's coming across the bay and blowing into here and
it's causing ignition uh ignite flame loss maybe yes maybe no but nonetheless i put a 45
on here and uh now we're good by the way i have a split ring hanger here a piece of threaded rod
on the plate i guess this was a galvanized plate well chinese or carisium south korean easium say
spiroven by the way this is uv rated even though it's not black all the new central therms are uv
rated and here's our fresh air and this is some kind of vent or maybe the pump all right guys
i hope you enjoyed this educational video on how to diagnose an avian fire tube combi and also
how to replace a venturi now i know that you know the folks over at navy and they don't really have
the in-class in-person training anymore but if you enjoyed this video and you found it helpful
and educational i would really appreciate if you consider subscribing there's absolutely no
cost or obligation and the more subscribers we have the more motivated i've become to create
more educational videos such as this one and as you guys know my long-term long-term viewers of
the channel i do a lot of work with navian and yes in my opinion they're garbage especially the water
tube models because they leak combustion gases at the top of the heat exchange which i've proved
many times but nafion says it's okay nonetheless blah blah blah blah if you like this video
thumbs up share with your friends and co-workers and most importantly subscribe
thank you so much be well god bless you
